Spicy Thai Basil Chicken (Pad Krapow Gai)
Equipment
- 1 Wok or large frying pan
- 2 Wooden spoon or spatula
- 3 Knife and cutting board
- 4 Measuring cups and spoo
- 5 Garlic press (optional)

Ingredients
- â…“ cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce, or as needed
- 2 tbsp fish sauce
- 1 tbsp white sugar
- 1 tbsp  brown sugar
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1  pound skinless, boneless chicken thighs, coarsely chopped
- ¼ cup sliced shallots
- 4  cloves  garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp minced Thai chilies, Serrano, or other hot pepper
- 1 cup very thinly sliced fresh basil leaves
- 2 cups hot cooked rice
Instructions
- Step 1Gather ingredients.
- Step 2Whisk chicken stock, shellfish sauce, soy sauce, fish sauce, white sugar, and earthy colored sugar together in a bowl until very much mixed
- Step 3Heat enormous skillet over high intensity. Sprinkle in oil. Add chicken and sautéed food until it loses its crude tone, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Step 4Mix in shallots, garlic, and cut chilies. Keep cooking on high intensity until a portion of the juices begin to caramelize in the lower part of the dish, around 2 or 3 additional minutes.
- Step 5Add about a tablespoon of the sauce blend to the skillet; cook and mix until sauce starts to caramelize, around 1 moment.
- Step 6Pour in the remainder of the sauce. Cook and mix until sauce has deglazed the lower part of the dish. Keep on cooking until sauce coats onto the meat, 1 or 2 additional minutes. Eliminate from heat.
- Step 7Stir in basil. Cook and stir until basil is wilted, about 20 seconds. Serve with rice.
- Step 8Serve hot and enjoy!
